Ask the miaPOS bot for a payment link without leaving WhatsApp, send it to your customer, and get told in the same chat when the money lands.

What it is and why

The miaPOS WhatsApp Business bot lives at +373 690 02 773. You write it an amount, it writes back a payment link. You pass that link to your customer, who pays from their own banking app — no card form, nothing to install, no checkout page to leave.

Why it works this way:

  • The customer installs nothing — the link opens their bank's own payment screen.
  • You open nothing — no terminal, no portal, no second device.
  • The money moves from the customer's bank account to the merchant's account on the instant-payment rail, the same one the terminal uses.

One difference from Telegram worth knowing up front: you talk to the bot in your own chat with it, not inside the customer's chat. WhatsApp gives business numbers no inline mode and no group surface — so the flow is ask the bot → forward the link, in whichever channel the customer is: the same WhatsApp thread, another thread, SMS, e-mail.

Getting set up — there is no activation step

Your WhatsApp phone number is your identity. There is no /start, no code, no contact-sharing tap.

  1. Your merchant has an account with one of the miaPOS partner banks, and your phone number is registered against that merchant by the bank.
  2. You open WhatsApp and write anything to +373 690 02 773.
  3. The bot recognises the number and answers in your language. You can issue payment links immediately.

If the number is not registered, the bot replies with a polite refusal — that is the expected answer, not a failure. Ask your bank or your portal administrator to add the phone; users are managed in the Merchant Portal, in the Administration section.

Asking for a payment link

The command is short and forgiving. These five messages all produce the same 100 MDL link:

You writeWhat happens
pay 100A payment link for 100 in the merchant's currency.
pay 100 "Cafea + croissant"Same, with a description the customer sees.
pay 100 "Cafea + croissant" #cafeaSame, plus a tag for your own reconciliation.
/pay 100 #cafeaSlash-prefixed form — identical to pay.
100Shorthand: a message that starts with a number is read as pay 100.

The description and the tag travel with the payment: both show up in the Merchant Portal next to the transaction, which is what makes end-of-day reconciliation possible without guesswork.

Where the underlying rail supports it, /rtp 100 sends a payment request instead of a link — the customer gets it as a request to approve in their banking app. Availability depends on the rail your bank runs.

Sending the link to the customer

The bot's reply contains the amount and the link. Forward it wherever the conversation is happening — the same WhatsApp thread with the customer, a different thread, SMS, e-mail, or read it out. The link does not care which channel delivered it.

What you get back

When the customer pays, the bot writes to you in the same chat — paid, and the amount. Failed, declined and expired attempts arrive the same way, so you know where a payment stands without opening anything.

The 24-hour rule — worth understanding once

WhatsApp itself, not miaPOS, limits when a business number may send free-form messages: only within 24 hours of your last message to it. In practice:

  • Inside the window — you have written to the bot in the last 24 hours — status messages arrive in real time, as ordinary chat messages.
  • Outside the window — the payment link still works and the money still reaches the merchant's account. Only the status message may not arrive as a chat message. Standardised WhatsApp notification templates for that case are being rolled out.

The window counts per seller, not per merchant. If you use the bot during the day, you never leave it. If you have not written for a while and are expecting a payment, send the bot any message first.

Language

Send /lang and pick from the list: Română, Русский, English, Français, Deutsch. The choice sticks to your phone number and applies to everything the bot writes afterwards — confirmations, errors, payment notifications. The starting language comes from your record at the bank.
