What this is

An increasing share of online purchases will be initiated by AI agents — apps where a user delegates a task ("book me a table, order this thing") and the agent handles the transaction. miaPOS lets agents pay you directly, with cryptographic proof the user authorised it.

This is an opt-in capability. By default your store accepts payments only from humans through the regular paypoints. Turning on agentic accept exposes your catalogue to AI agents that support the AIPS protocol.

Why enable it

  • New revenue channel — agent-initiated commerce is forecast to reach single-digit percent of online sales by 2027. Early adopters get default placement.
  • Lower fraud — every agent payment carries a signed mandate from the user's wallet. No card-not-present chargeback risk.
  • Same settlement — funds land in your account through the same instant-payment rail as a regular payment. No new bank relationship.

How to enable

  1. Open the merchant portal → Settings → Acceptance channels.
  2. Toggle Agentic payments on.
  3. Pick which products/categories are agent-eligible (default: all).
  4. Set a per-transaction cap if you want (default: same as your normal limit).
  5. Save. AIPS-capable agents will discover your store within ~5 minutes via the AIPS registry.

What you'll see in reports

Agentic payments appear in your regular transactions list with a small bot icon and the source agent (e.g. via Claude, via Booking Agent X). The mandate hash is recorded for audit. Refund flow is identical to regular payments.

Reconciliation

For accounting, agentic payments are settled identically to regular instant payments — same bank statement line, same settlement timing. The via X annotation is for your reporting; no special tax or reconciliation treatment is required at this stage.
