Glossary
Domain vocabulary used across miaPOS docs. Disambiguates terms that overlap with cards, schemes, or other payments contexts.
A — M
- Acquiring
- The merchant side of a payment — receiving and settling funds. miaPOS is acquiring-only; we do not issue wallets or cards.
- AIPS
- Agentic Instant Payment Scheme. miaPOS' open protocol for agent-driven acquiring. See AIPS protocol.
- AP2
- Anthropic's Agent Payments Protocol — the trust layer for agent-initiated mandates. AIPS is AP2-compatible.
- Callback
- Server-to-server notification of a payment state change. Signed with RSA-SHA256. Authoritative — never trust the browser redirect alone.
- CAP / cap-svc
- Internal name for the Conversational Acceptance Platform service — the backend behind the Telegram paypoint.
- Instant payment
- Bank-to-bank transfer that settles in seconds, 24/7. Distinct from card payments and from batch-settled wires.
- ISO 20022
- International standard for financial messages. miaPOS uses pacs.008, pacs.002, pain.013, pain.014.
N — Z
- Paypoint
- A surface where a merchant accepts payment. miaPOS ships six: Hardware POS, SoftPOS, E-commerce, Payment Links/RtP, Conversational, Agentic.
- pacs.008
- ISO 20022 message for FI-to-FI customer credit transfer. The workhorse for instant payments.
- pacs.002
- ISO 20022 status report. miaPOS uses it for dual-signal inbound confirmation.
- pain.013
- ISO 20022 message for Request to Pay — creditor pushes a payment request to the debtor's bank.
- Rail
- An instant-payment scheme (MIA, RoPay, IPS, PI-SPI). miaPOS is rail-agnostic — it speaks multiple.
- Request to Pay (RtP)
- Push-based payment request. Merchant initiates; payer approves in their banking app. Implemented via pain.013.
- Scheme
- Same as rail in this glossary. We avoid the term where confusion with card schemes is possible.
- Settlement
- The moment funds arrive in the merchant's bank account. With instant payments, settlement is seconds, not T+1/T+3.
- SoftPOS
- A merchant phone or tablet acting as a payment terminal. Android NFC (HCE) or Web/iOS QR.
- TMS
- Terminal Management System. Internal admin tool for provisioning hardware POS devices.
