Frequently asked questions
What miaPOS is, where it's live, how it works, who operates it.
About the product
What is miaPOS in one sentence?
A POS platform for accepting instant account-to-account bank payments via Instant Payment Schemes — no cards, no EMV.
How does a payment work?
The merchant initiates a payment request (QR, NFC, link, checkout, chat, or agent). The customer approves it in their banking app. The funds move bank-to-bank over the local instant payment scheme and settle in near-real-time, 24/7.
Does miaPOS accept Visa or Mastercard cards?
No. miaPOS is account-to-account only. No card-scheme acceptance, no EMV.
How fast does a payment settle?
Near-instant — seconds — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Can miaPOS handle recurring payments or Request-to-Pay?
Where the underlying IPS supports them. These are rail-dependent capabilities and availability varies by market.
Can a merchant accept online (web checkout)?
Yes. Online checkout is supported via plugins (WooCommerce, OpenCart, CS-Cart) and a REST API.
Coverage
Which countries is miaPOS live in today?
Moldova and Romania. Expansion is underway in the SEPA Instant zone, including Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Spain.
Which banks does miaPOS work with?
In Moldova, with nine partner banks; specific names are not publicly disclosed on this site. In Romania, via the RoPay scheme.
Is miaPOS available outside Europe?
Live coverage today is in Moldova and Romania. The architecture is ISO 20022-native, which makes expansion to other ISO 20022-aligned instant payment schemes technically straightforward. Live availability in a given country requires a partner bank in that market.
Can a customer pay miaPOS merchants from a foreign bank account?
Cross-border acceptance depends on the rails available in each market. Within the SEPA Instant zone, a SEPA Instant-capable account can pay any SEPA Instant-reachable merchant. Outside SEPA, market-by-market.
Commercial
What does miaPOS cost?
There are no card-scheme fees. Per-transaction pricing depends on the partner bank and acceptance mix. Contact sales for a quote.
How does a merchant sign up?
Through one of the partner banks in their market. Open the sign-in page, choose the bank, and request credentials. The bank handles KYC and contracting; miaPOS provides the acceptance technology.
