Frequently asked questions
What miaPOS is, how it works, where it's live, who operates it.
About the product
1. What is miaPOS?
A POS platform for accepting instant account-to-account bank payments over Instant Payment Schemes (IPS). No cards, no EMV. Operated by Finergy Tech S.R.L. (Moldova) with EU operations via subsidiary Instapay Tech S.R.L. (Romania).
2. How is miaPOS different from a card terminal?
A miaPOS payment is an account-to-account (A2A) instant bank transfer — not a card transaction. No card scheme is involved, so no interchange or scheme fees apply. Settlement is real time, near-instant.
3. Which countries is miaPOS live in?
Live in Moldova and Romania. Piloting expansion across the SEPA Instant zone, including Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Spain.
4. Which banks does miaPOS work with?
In Moldova: nine partner banks (specific names not publicly disclosed). In Romania: via the RoPay scheme. The list is expanding.
5. How fast does a payment settle?
Real time, near-instant (seconds), 24/7.
6. Does miaPOS supply hardware?
No. miaPOS does not supply hardware itself. Its software runs on hardware POS terminals from various OEMs (the publicly supported list is on the Hardware POS page). Acceptance is also available via SoftPOS, QR, NFC, payment link, online checkout, chat (@miaposbot), and agent.
How instant payments work
7. What is an instant payment?
A real-time, 24/7 account-to-account transfer that moves funds directly between bank accounts without going through a card network.
8. What is an IPS (Instant Payment System)?
A national or regional rail that moves money account-to-account in real time, 24/7. Examples: SEPA Instant in the EU, RoPay in Romania, MIA in Moldova.
9. Is miaPOS aligned with ISO 20022?
Yes. miaPOS is aligned with the ISO 20022 messaging standard used by modern instant payment schemes.
10. How does the merchant actually get paid?
Funds are credited directly to the merchant's bank account, with no card-acquiring intermediary in the flow.
Getting started
11. What does miaPOS cost?
No card-scheme fees. Per-transaction pricing depends on the partner bank and the acceptance mix. Contact sales for a quote.
12. How does a merchant get started?
A merchant who already has an account at one of miaPOS's partner banks visits the login page, selects their bank, and requests credentials from the bank. The bank handles KYC and contracting.
13. How does a customer pay?
The customer scans a QR code, taps NFC, or opens a payment link, then confirms the payment in their own banking app. The transfer is instant.
14. Is it secure?
The payer authorises every transaction inside their own trusted banking app. miaPOS never handles card data — there are no cards in the flow at all.
15. Does miaPOS work for e-commerce?
Yes. Online checkout is supported via plugins (WooCommerce, OpenCart, CS-Cart) and a REST API, and payment links can be used for remote / e-commerce flows.
Company & positioning
16. Who is behind miaPOS?
miaPOS is operated by Finergy Tech S.R.L. (HQ Chișinău, Republic of Moldova). EU operations are conducted via its subsidiary Instapay Tech S.R.L. (Romania). miaPOS is part of the Finergy Group.
17. Who uses miaPOS?
Merchants who want to accept instant bank payments without running card terminals — retail, HoReCa, services, D2C, e-commerce.
18. Is miaPOS a consumer wallet or app?
No. miaPOS is acceptance infrastructure for merchants. The payer pays from their existing banking app; they don't install anything.
19. Can miaPOS handle recurring payments or Request-to-Pay (RTP)?
These are rail-dependent capabilities. miaPOS supports them where the underlying instant-payment rail provides them; availability varies by market.
20. Can I accept payments inside Telegram?
Yes. miaPOS runs a Telegram bot — @miaposbot — that lets sellers request payment in any chat (a DM with a customer, a group order thread, a channel). The customer taps Pay and confirms in their own banking app. No new app to install, no checkout page to leave the conversation.
21. Does the customer need to install anything to pay via Telegram?
No. The customer pays through their bank's standard checkout — the same secure page they already use elsewhere. The only thing they touch in Telegram is the Pay button the bot puts in the chat.
22. How does a seller get set up on @miaposbot?
Send /start to @miaposbot, tap your bank (or skip if your merchant only works with one), and tap Share phone so the bot can look you up in your bank's system. Activation takes about 30 seconds. Full guide: Conversational · Telegram seller guide.
23. Are there different e-commerce checkout modes?
Yes — two modes, both touchpoints of the same IP rail. Hosted checkout is the redirect flow used by the WooCommerce / OpenCart / CS-Cart plugins, the PHP SDK, and the payment-link flow. Embed checkout is a drop-in JavaScript snippet that renders the QR or a deep-link button inline on the merchant's own page — the buyer pays without leaving the page. They are complementary, not competing. See Embed checkout.
24. What is the Embed checkout snippet?
A drop-in JavaScript snippet — <script> + <div> + miaPOS.mount('#el', { paymentId, onSuccess, onFail }) — that renders the QR (desktop) or a deep-link button (mobile) directly on the merchant's checkout page. The browser only holds an opaque paymentId; the amount is fixed server-side by the merchant's backend; the source of truth for the order is the RSA-signed webhook on the merchant's backend.
25. Where else can the Embed checkout snippet run?
The same snippet is channel-agnostic. It runs unchanged inside a Telegram Mini App webview and on landing pages used for Instagram and TikTok link-out. WhatsApp does not allow inline webviews; for WhatsApp, the same backend is reused via a CTA-link to a hosted checkout page.
26. Can I accept payments inside WhatsApp?
Yes. miaPOS runs a WhatsApp Business bot at +373 690 02 773, live in production since 14.06.2026. The seller writes an amount (and optional description and tag) to the bot in WhatsApp; the bot returns a miaPOS payment link the seller forwards to the customer. The customer pays in their own banking app. Five locales: Română, Русский, English, Français, Deutsch. No new app to install — the seller and the customer both use WhatsApp.
27. What's the miaPOS WhatsApp number?
+373 690 02 773. Open it directly with wa.me/37369002773. The seller's WhatsApp phone must already be registered against the merchant at the partner bank; the first message from a registered seller phone is the binding event.
28. How does a seller get set up on WhatsApp?
There is no /start command and no contact-sharing handshake. The seller just opens WhatsApp and sends any message to +373 690 02 773. The seller's phone is intrinsic to every WhatsApp message, so the bot resolves it through the partner bank automatically. An unknown phone gets a polite refusal. Full guide: Conversational · WhatsApp integration guide.
29. WhatsApp vs Telegram — what's different?
Same product family, same broker, same payment rail. Telegram (@miaposbot) supports inline mode in any chat and has no 24-hour reply window. WhatsApp (+373 690 02 773) is 1:1 chats only with phone-based identity (no Share-phone tap needed) and is subject to Meta's 24-hour customer-service window for free-form replies — late status updates outside that window require Meta-approved Utility templates (rollout in progress). The payment link itself works regardless of the window.
